| Fall lingers here in Virginia, and how I would love to linger with it, taking long walks and indulge in the season of hot cider and warm sweaters. Dream on, in mere moments, the holiday season will be rushing headlong toward all of us. Lke a runaway locomotive. Just like last year. I can hardly wait.
These days, I have to savor the season during my two-mile walk to the Metro station on my way to work. It's also one of the times I think about my characters, and sometimes I let them suffer the way I have. Take Lacey Smithsonian, the main character in my Crime of Fashion mysteries. In RAIDERS OF THE LOST CORSET, in the midst of hunting for a fabled jewel-filled corset, Lacey tackles an incredibly complex dessert for Thanksgiving to impress her boyfriend's mother: Southern Living's Pecan Pie Cake.
